Welcome to the APYCO blog

Welcome to the new APYCO blog - where we will be consulting on proposed constitutional changes for the organisation, and reporting from the 2008 AGM and Conference.

Recent years have seen significant changes in services for young people. The rise of Integrated Youth Support Services, and the developments brought in by Every Child Matters, Youth Matters and Aiming High for Young People mean that APYCO is looking to change also - to continue to provide the best possible support to leaders of youth services across the country.

In April this year, the executive committee of APYCO met to explore a vision for the future. They have propose three key changes to the constitution:

  • Renaming APYCO (Association of Principal Youth and Community Officers) to AIYSS (Association of Integrated Youth Support Services);
  • Updating the Vision Statement of the association;
  • Updating the membership structure;

The committee recognized the importance of consulting the membership, and potential future members and partners on these changes - and so this blog is here to provide an online space for that consultation and discussion - in the run up to the 2008 AGM on the 13th October when the proposed constitutional changes will be discussed and voted upon

This blog will also provide a space for sharing updates, news, learning and insights from the 2008 APYCO conference taking place on the 13th and 14th October at Horwood House, Buckinghamshire (download booking form).
