The 2008 APYCO conference, preceded by the AGM where three proposals for constitutional change will be discussed, is taking place on the 13th and 14th October 2008 at Horwood House, Bucks on the theme of ‘Creating Shared Space: Making Integration Happen’
For details of the conference download the conference programme (word document) or register using the members booking form (word document).
Fantastic to see a blog under the APYCO name - looking forward to seeing some posts / content and interaction here, specifically from the members directly as they explore this type of platform…
Now you have the space why not play around with some dynamic content like video and / or digital stories etc)
Good luck with it guys and looking forward to seeing you at the conference again in October - thanks for the invite back.
Peace

Hey DK
Thanks for the comments.
Definitely hoping we can include some Video from the event… if your session can tie into featuring stuff here that would be great…
You certainly left APYCO enthusiastic for blogging last time…
Well, does this mean i am a blogger?
Just wanted to say that it was a good conference, I enjoyed it. The Tues morning session was good because on many occasions it has felt that things have fizzled out a bit; today’s inputs provided plenty of food for thought, as well as being informative about national activity.
Great workshops! i went to the one on PSA 14 run by David Wright and a really helpful colleague from DCSF. which raised lots of questions and debate. I then went to DK’s workshop which was great, and inspired me to progress some ideas we’ve been having at work.
Hope others add comments, it would be great to get some interactive feedback.
Good to see some new faces; see you all next year in (New?) York.
Hey Carol
Welcome to the blogosphere. You’re now a blog commenter. To become a blogger involves writing a blog post (or whole blog) on which comments are invited… so almost there
Great to hear about the Tuesday morning - I was sad to not be able to stay to hear all the insights from those sessions…
Many thanks for the kind comments on my session Carol - enjoyed having you there - looking forward to seeing the ideas in action now (don’t forget to let me know where and how)… see you soon.
I thought it was a good conference too! I was pleased that the atmosphere felt supportive and that some of the content felt challenging. It will, I believe, mark a turning point for APYCO - a subtle but important shift into acknowledging the value of a range of approaches to working with young people whilst retaining a recognition of the value of the art of the youth work approach. I’m really interested in people’s views of what the organisation should be called - so my challenge is to help us by offering suggestions - my response to the suggestions is that the first to place on this blog, the name that is finally selected will receive, a beautiful bottle of wine (or equivalent) purchased from my own pocket and delivered to your door!
[...] Whewell, APYCO Chair, has pledged a bottle of wine (or alternative) to the person who proposes the name that APYCO finally choses at it’s [...]
I have to agree that I thought it was a good conference. I tend to judge the success or otherwise by the amount of information or good ideas I can take back to my day-to-day workplace or that I can ponder on (as a reflective practitioner, you know!)I’d like to thank Mike for his session on Tuesday, very current and giving us some ideas to work on and thanks also to Nigel for the docs from Brighton & Hove - all very useful stuff. Just one idea for next year … can we have ear defenders for the disco? (or am I showing my increasing age?). I might regret this but … Thanks David, well Chaired1
